Memories From A Different Future Book Blast and Giveaway

Synopsis

For Nikki, it feels like no time has passed since they rescued Henry’s sister from her abductors. After all, in the in-between realm, time is completely different than for those still “living.” Even though it’s been almost twenty years, only lately has Nikki started crossing between realms again. She’s been checking on Ian—the person they knew as Curtis before he jumped into a new life. Nikki hasn’t admitted it to the others but she’s been curious. Could Ian’s life really be as good as it seems? Can she find the courage herself to try the other realm again despite what happened last time?

When Nikki suddenly starts receiving ghostlike visits from Curtis—all these years since he returned to the physical realm—she can’t imagine how it’s possible. She also realizes it has to mean something serious. Nikki soon learns that, three days from now, an incident on Earth will end Curtis’s new life. Now, Nikki, Henry and Jamie must find a way to alter the outcome of a future event only they know will take place. They’ll also have just minutes to make that happen. Otherwise, Curtis is going to die again, taking with him any hope Nikki and her friends had for starting over.

Title: Parallax
Author: Paul Williams
Release Date: September 2014
Publisher: illusio & baqer

Book Description: Danny Anderson lives in Sulphide, a copper mining town in the outback of Australia. Taking refuge from a gang of bullies who tortures animals, he and his two friends Jennifer and Gustave discover a parallel universe through a cave. In this universe, bullies are eaten by the animals they torture, Animal Police arrest people for the crime of cannibalism (eating meat), and pain inflicted on others is felt by the perpetrators.

But far from being the Eden they first envision, it is a frightening world where justice is harsh. They escape into a series of worlds, but each parallel universe is worse than the previous one, until they discover a perfect utopia, where—it seems—everything they wanted the world to be is true: animal suffering is abolished, humans live in harmony with nature, and justice is done—but not all is as perfect as it appears.

Here is an Interview with the Author!

How did you come up with the title?
I had many ideas for titles, but I wanted to find a scientific word that somehow explained the idea of parallel worlds.Parallax means ‘alteration’ in Greek and is about how objects look in a different place. In my novel, the whole world is altered and seen from a different angle.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes: I think the message is obvious, but for those who don’t get it, it’s about being kind to all animals… and treating them with respect.
How much of the book is realistic?
A lot! When I was eleven years old, I felt this burning sense of the world being wrong, and wanted to change it. I also lived in a pokey little mining town in the middle of nowhere, like my characters, who are seeking some adventure to make their lives exciting.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Based on me. I wanted so badly for there to be an entrance to another parallel world somewhere and used to fantasize about the caves I explored, wishing behind that crevice there would be a portal to another world.

What books have influenced your life most?
My dad read Huckleberry Finn to me when I was young and that stuck in my mind somehow, about a young boy trying to fight against the whole of his society, and be himself, to be free.

Shine by Joann Buchanon Blog Tour

Title: Shine
Author: Joann Buchanan
Release Date: September 2, 2014
Genre: Paranormal Romance

EXCERPT:
After that, I took the memory card from my camera and put it into the computer to pull up the images. One by one they came up. First were the pictures of the small trees with the beautiful yellow hues of light sparkling behind them. Across the sky, grey clouds formed and rays of light shined through them. I flipped through the photos, taking a quick look at all of them. As I reached the end of the file, I was sure I had imagined everything I had witnessed. Then the last three pictures showed him coming into view. Magical, miraculous, my jaw dropped as I pressed print on the small printer. A lifetime passed while I waited for the printer to finish spitting out the photos. With a sigh, I paced back and forth a little. Waiting wasn’t something I did well.
I looked at the pictures without blinking. I had captured the ray of light with Samuel in it. His body appeared like nothing more than an orb, or could even have been explained away. In the next picture, his body formed, almost ghostly in appearance. Finally, in the last one, Samuel landed on the ground. His wings had disappeared and the man I met was there.
I had seen it happen; it was real. It was proof enough to me that I wasn’t some crazed lunatic. Samuel had come from the sky. Questions still lingered in my mind. What was he doing there? How did I get to my car? There was nothing on the file after the last three images I’d printed. Fear grew inside me the more I thought about what could have happened on the way to my car. I cocouldn'tuite picture it, but I knew Samuel had saved me. I didn't know what from, and I didn't know why, but he had. Why couldn't I remember?

SYNOPSIS:

PRESS PLAY
Author: Erid Devine
Release Date: October 28, 2014
Publisher: Running Press Kids

Greg Dunsmore, a.k.a. Dun the Ton, is focused on one thing: making a documentary that will guarantee his admission into the film school of his choice. Every day, Greg films his intense weight-loss focused workouts as well as the nonstop bullying that comes from his classmates. But when he captures footage of violent, extreme hazing by his high school’s championship-winning lacrosse team in the presence of his principal, Greg’s field of view is in for a readjustment.
Greg knows there is a story to be told, but it is not clear exactly what. And his attempts to find out the truth only create more obstacles, not to mention physical harm upon himself. Yet if Greg wants to make his exposé his ticket out of town rather than a veritable death sentence, he will have to learn to play the game and find a team to help him.
Combine the underbelly of Friday Night Lights with the unflinching honesty of Walter Dean Myers, and you will find yourself with Eric Devine’s novel of debatable truths, consequences, and realities.
